The guy on the left looks to be Alan Dakin who was originally from Beech Hill( I know that doesn't mean anything in the context of where this pub might be) but who, with his wife, were steward and stewardess of a golf club in Ashton. Could it have been there?

Well, in the Man Utd photo, I can make Best, Law, Charlton, and Stiles out, and they are all wearing the old round collared shirts.
The month shown on the calendar is July, and given that particular sequence of dates, the year was most likely 1968 or 1969, depending on whether the calendar commenced on Saturday or Sunday.

Mick, if it is, as you say, 1968 or 1969, my suggestion that it might be a golf club in Ashton goes right out of the window - it was much, much later than either of those years when Alan Dakin was a club steward.

Can't see a golf club having an owd fireplace int' lounge?

This is the back room of the Crofters Arms 1968ish. Theres an Everton pic as well. Manc and Scouser in same pub....not good!
