Can anyone shed any light on this item? Is it a ticket for an event? This was in my parents collection of photographs and things. My Gt Aunt Annie Doran with husband David ran the White Swan in Lower Ince (still away from Abram I know) for many years and this is the only remote connection my family had in that area that I know of.

I can't cast light on this ticket but I think C.Hodgkinson used to work for Abram UDC and lived in one of the two Houses next door to the Buck. His son Allan used to play for Wigan Cricket Club.

S.Marsden lived on Park View and also worked for Abram council

I think S. Marsden would be Sam Marsden who was the grandfather of my friend Mary Sayers, (nee Gore). I will email her to draw her attention to this.

Thanks for putting this on the site, and thanks to Irene Roberts for drawing my attention to it. It has my grandfather's name on it (Samuel Marsden, who was the accountant at Ackers Whitley Colliery, subsequently Bickershaw Colliery) who was born in Adlington and died at Woodside, Crankwood, Abram in 1946). It must have been from one of the many fund-raising events held by villages such as Abram before and during WW2. My grandparents were involved in a lot of these. I still have one of the huge tablecloths that were used for communal festivities at Abram.

Clifford Hodgkinson was the Clerk of the Abram Urban District Council until the late 1960s. Harry Allen was the Council's Surveyor & Sanitary Inspector
