Just come across this newspaper cutting from the 1950's A chimney sweep attending your wedding was at one time a pretty common thing as it was supposed to bring the couple good luck.
Does anyone know, or has any information about the couple?

They lived on Spencer Road west for many years. Gordon was a good freind of my Fathers, Jack Cockrell. they worked together at Hawker Syddley at Lostock (now BAe Systems). sadlly the Sweep didn't bring Gordon much luck, he died of heart failure in about 1971-72. Joan moved away from Wigan to be nearer her family. She's still in touch with my Mother and now lives in southport I believe.

I recognised Gordon straight away I saw the photo. We were in the same class at St Stephen's School, Whelley at the beginning of the Second World War!
