What an atmospheric photo this is, two Wiganners having a drink and a smoke no doubt after a hard days graft. Times were hard in those days and this can be seen in their faces. Can anyone identify the men?

It is NOT a photo! It is NOT your photo!
It has been copied from a book by you
surely this section is for PHOTOS NOT copies from books, papers etc

Alcohol? The scourge of the working classes...If times were that hard, these two characters couldn't really afford to be in an alehouse...Load of bollocks...Nowt's changed: drinkers will drink no matter what...Even if their kids had no shoes...Pics like this are embarrassing...

WhelleyWayne. Yes this, along with many others on Wigan World, is take from and old book about the town and it's people and some are taken from postcards but are still worth sharing with other like minded people as they tell a story of how life used to be and form a social history of the town which is important especially for next generations.

I think they were entitled to pint after a hard days work.
