Judging by the GR tie pin would say he was an ex serviceman, does anybody recognise the lapel badge?

He has the look of a jockey about him, also his tie is patterned with horseshoes. I'm almost sure the lapel badge is animal welfare connected but not 100% on that.

Wondered about a jockey connection myself.
The 'GR' tiepin could perhaps indicate one retained to ride horses owned by the King.

I agree with the jockey because of the tie pin and horse shoe tie. Looks like he is wearing a medal - has that been missed of the photograph. If so is it possible to cut the top of the photo off so that people can see the medal.

The badge looks like it could be the scout trefoil. Maybe he was a scout leader
