This is a City of Manchester Daimler. Sorry bit they enver ran into Wigan. The 77 ran from Swinton to Reddish. The only time Manchester buses ventured in to other parts of the North West region was on Private Hire or occasional duplicate workings on the X60 from Manchester to Blackpool normally run by Ribble and LUT.
When I worked in Manchester 1960 ish,I used to catch either the No 57 or the 77 bus or tram from Hyde Rd.to Piccadilly, the bus then continued through Salford to Irlam o'th Height. This photo brings back lots of happy memories.
Great photo. I was always one for catching the last bus home and this pic brings back lots of happy memories. For a moment I thought I'd gone back to the 1960s!
Fr Norman. Didn't City of Manchester operate the no.26 Leigh-Manchester route in the 60s, as a joint service with Salford City Transport and Leigh Corporation?
Great picture. It looked familiar for some reason, then I realised its the bus that was in the film; A Taste of Honey.
I tracked it down via Google.
