This is one of 2 pieces I am uploading that my grandma used to play at Wigan Institute circa 1905. I have other similar pieces of hers. One may have been her mother's, also named Daisy Wood, as the signatures are different in their style.
Hope Temple was an Irish Pianist and Composer b. 1859 in Dublin.

I have only just realised this piece actually is the Arthur Sullivan of Gilbert and Sullivan and bears his autograph on it also. As he died prior to 1905 I don't know if it is original. However, the ink appears to be identical to the autograph of Hope Temple on the other piece I have uploaded. Could it be that Arthur and Hope appeared together and used the same pen. Perhaps my g-grandma only wrote 1905 on it when she gave it to my grandma?

Music covers. What is the site coming to????? What next? Here's an empty cig packet that belonged to my dad.

went straight over the top of your head george, obviously. As if this could be as totally brain-numbing as some of the footy fotos and 70's party pix shown by the millions herein. Trippers!

I agree rubbish no interest photos. But at least they have some Wigan connection. What has this got to do with Wigan?

Well, George, I thought it was self-explanatory?

In other words, the Wood family were educators in Wigan for many years c1870 to early 1900's. They lived, worked and were born and some even died there. As did their spouses and descendants. Entirely appropriate I consider, given that there is plenty of other history I have contributed on this website via early family photos. No out-of-town bus trips or holiday snaps either like some here. And I have heaps of those if anyone's interested! Regards, Sheryl

REALLY INTERSTING!!!! You're having a laugh, L.O.L. What is interesting about looking at a battered old piece of sheet music? Which has NOTHING to do with Wigan?? Go round any car boot sales and you will see hundreds of similar things. It isn't as though it was written by a Wigan person. You are telling me that you would rather look at this picture than an historical one, showing a location around Wigan? As George said What if everybody started putting pictures "of a cig packet that belonged to my dad" " A pencil my grandad used to write out his betting slips" No wonder a lot of the original members don't come on any more. When this rubbish is all they see. Brian Ron, lets get back to the original concept of the site WIGAN RELATED PHOTOS.

Got to agree with George and Aspuller the interest value of some recent photos put on the site is zilch. What we want is more like the group put on recently by Dougie. These type of photographs create a lot of discussion and bring back memories for a lot of the older ggeneration who frequent this web site. Lets have more...
