Whilst the people of St Mary's Lower Ince struggled to raise money to repair their 75-year-old church, they were also responding to the Bishop of Liverpool's "Call to Build" appeal, which was launched in September 1962. They pledged to raise a hundred pounds a year for seven years. The children were also drawn into this appeal - by buying stamps, which cost 6d each. When they had completed five cards, they were awarded a badge (see next pic). This almost-full card (but I think the first stamp must have become detached) belonged to Elaine Santus.
