They kept the Newtown British Legion,the old Newtown Labour club,the new Labour club in Scot lane,the Vine Inn caroline street,and then kept the Queens Head Hotel Newtown for 13 years.from about 1958 to 1971. They were two of the best, god bless um.

Was The Vine Inn called The Whitewash?? i remember being in it in 1983, i think the landladys name was Ellen then, maybe not the same pub.
The Whitewash was the Buck i'th'Vine in Clayton Street. The landlady was Ellen Picton

Hello John and margaret, I've just noticed it says Joe's Bar Isle of Man at the rear of the photo, was it a real bar or just a set from a photographers.

Yes thats it Buck ith Vine, was only in it the once, on a Easter Saturday day session 1983, after the Crofters, Bricklayers, Wheat Sheaf and The Grapes, I remember having a bitter shandy and a couple of pies trying to sober up for Blutos later that night, Ellen was a gem!! Good Days :-)
