Wigan Album

Not seen this one before, Johnny Thomas (a Welshman like my father) was one of the first to greet my father after his arrival in Wigan from Wales to play for Wigan (1938 to 1948). By this time Johnny’s playing years were well behind him, but he told my father to "look after your money” (which he did). Johnny had a great career in Rugby League and at one time ran the Royal Oak in Standishgate. There was nothing more Johnny wished for than to return home to Wales as a successful businessman. Unfortunately his business acumen did not match his prowess on the rugby field.
