A photograph of the first Wigan Athletic team in their first season 1932. In those days the team played in Cherry and White and were known as 'The Arsenal of the Cheshire League'. The team was managed and captained by ex England internationa,l centre half, Charlie Spencer (Middle front row) Other members of the team pictured here are: ABBOT, ODELL, CALLAGHAN, ALLON, SPENCER, WAKE, HUGHES, McCABE, CHAMBERS JONES and MURPHY. The trainer in the flat cap isn't known. Can anyone help?

I remember seeing a photograph in the Supporters Club at Springfield Park showing George? McCabe, scoring a penalty, and the ball was going through the back of the net. I believe the photographer won an award for it . What happened to that photograph I wonder?
