this pic was taken before the shop front was rebuilt. It's great to read all the old ads that were on the front of the shop There was a pub to the right of the pic and part of it is still standing and incorporated into the shops there. When we were kids we watched the draymen dropping the wooden ale barrels on to a mat, before lowering them into the cellar on ropes.
