Polly was my great aunt and she and her husband Bill, an ex miner, went to live in Blackpool after the 1926 Miners Strike, to keep a boarding house. When the holiday season was in full swing, her two daughters, Hilda and Gladys had to give up their beds to holidaymakers and sleep in the garden shed! Later in life, Hilda and her sister were co-owners of a snack bar, “The New Yorker” on the Golden Mile.

Shown my mum the web site when we come accross this photo, it turns out that the gentleman in the photo is her fathers brother. She remembers them going to Blackpool.
