I have enjoyed your 'George' photos,thanks.I have never understood why many successful Northeners went to live in Blackpool when there is so much beautiful countryside around.My fathers family were from Hindley and my Aunt remembered a young George riding his pony.

There were several Berydenes but this isn't the one at Blackpool - though the one at Blackpool (the last Beryldene) was actually located in Lytham St. Annes. The Berydene in this photo of George and Beryl was (and still is)located in Mains Lane, Little Singleton, Lancashire.

I used to live on Mains Lane, as a child, opposite side of the road to Berydene. At the Garage at the top of Mains Lane. Though I thought the house was called Beryldene. I visited the house a couple of times in the hope of catching George Formby in. Things were different then, we had a lot of freedom.
