Mr James Chater who at a few years ago resided up the Springfield district of Wigan and was Formerly in the cabinet making trade, has just celebrated his 100th birthday. This above photograph of him, which is sent to us for publication by Wigan relatives, was taken in his 99th year and as with patriarch Mr Chater is a native of Lancashire and he now makes his home with his daughter. Mrs Cummings and his grandson who is a watchmaker and silversmith, at 63, Buttermarket street, Warrington. He enjoys good health and being spry intelligent, likes an enlightened interest in what is going on. He his a shrewd personality and is of a lively cast of mind and have a good memory is able to call up many interesting stories of the past. His age is well authenticated by the records in the family bible until quite recently Mr Chater was able to work at his bench making such things as work boxes and writing desks.
