A day out in Blackpool.
My friend Pat and myself in Blackpool in 1963, the year before she emigrated to Australia. The Wiigan connection being we both lived in Scholes.

Looks as though your friend Pat and yourself had turned your backs on those "Kiss Me Quick" hats. That's the spirit; make 'em' buy a programme.

That's lovely, Veronica, and so evocative of the time. I have a book of photos of Blackpool in the early sixties and that hat-stall is in it.

Pat and I had a reunion about 3 years ago in Debenhams of all places. She had beautiful red hair and I wanted my hair that colour... Out I went and bought some 'Bandbox'and it bleached it a brassy colour..it was awful. My dad said"what have you done to your hair?" I just said' I've washed it'!
Daft as a brush at that age!

I once went out with a redhead Veronica. This poor girl had no hair unfortunately, just a red head. Sorry, I've only just returned from the cellar, having sampled the 2014 vintage Chateau d'Oz ' Parallel 52.6 elderberry surprise '. It's a cheeky little vintage with the aroma of pencil shavings at the bottom of an oak drawer and just a hint of elderberries. The surprise part being that there's still any left.

Thanks Sam I didn't really because my dad was very strict and I always had to be home at a certain time and I couldn't go out every night either! Funny that because my brother wasn't treated like that. I had to do what I was told.

Veronica, i had three sisters and they had to go by the same rules, but as I was the youngest if I saw them chatting to any boys I could always get a mars bar or pack of spangles out of them, think it is called blackmail we laugh about it these days
