I bet Jarvis went along to protest. After all he thought these men were "bluff merchants claiming all kinds, and living a good life on it..." and " that these fellows think the Universe owes them a living.." Also he claims "Lots of them made false claims. And got away with it.. Then he claims he's "I have seen fit men in buggies with apparatus for breathing etc, etc...

Then go boozing till midnight.."

Proud men and well worthy of some charity.
If it wasn't for the miners during the war industry would have ground to a halt, they did their bit keeping the lights lit, the machinery turning and the trains and ships steaming at the risk of serious injuries or being buried alive. What did jarvo do - nowt.
