This family trio certainly made their mark in the world of Rugby League. Bill(y) Blan and Jack or Johnny Blan with their exploits with Wigan and their other brother Albert with Swinton RFC. Very few families, if indeed any other family, can claim no less than three brothers all making a life for themselves in professional sport.

The Clarke brothers come to mind: five professional footballers: Allan, Frank, Derek, Kelvin and Wayne...All good lads...Allan (Sniffer) played 19 times for England, and was a vital part of Don Revie's great Leeds side of the early seventies...Derek and Wayne both began their careers with Wolverhampton Wanderers...

Billy lived in an upstairs flat opposite the Bowling Green pub for quite a while. Then he went to play for a Yorkshire club (don't know which) When he returned to Wigan he lived in Hornby St for a long time.
