I'd say they are fishing trophies,Billy Mcmahon sat on the left sadly Billy died a couple of years ago.
I don't know what it was for but it had a lot to do with Reeds, the place your dad worked as there is seven Reedsmen on that photo that I can see
Thats right, my dad did work at Reeds Corrugated Cases. His clock number was 162. I think he started about 1973. How do you know so many of them dougie? Can you put names to faces please coz I am doing a family album of memories of dad and his colleagues.
back row from left jimmy mcnamara, arthur bennet, ken?, ? murphy richard holland, brian lowe, don't know the others i think the trophies may have had something to do with safety as arthur bennet was the safety officer at reeds.
Thanks for the information chaps, I have a couple more photos relating to this which I will upload soon, hopefully they will help
Right front is Brian Edwards
Brian Hornby 3rd from the left stood up usually called Bob!
I think it is fishing and I think billy mc mahon was a member of reeds fishing club but to my knowledge never worked there brian edwards was a friend of billy
made equiries billy wasnt a member of the fishing club but members were allowed to take a guest sea fishing.another thought is that it maybe garswood fishing club trophy night
3rd from left is Brian Hornby next to him is Jack murphy
went to school with Jack,St Thomas More
i think the tropies were for bowling
fourth from the right is my dad, John (Jack) Murphy, this was a presentation for the sea fishing club, obviously they all made it off the boat in one piece...... and sober!
