Wigan Album

Probably snapped sometime in 1950 the photo shows Dad, Alan Hankin holding me and is taken on St Catharine's Rec. Dad's sister Lillian is sat with her fiance Ernie Hewitt. (Unsure if they were married at this time). Mum is sat behind dad. Uncle Ernie and Aunty Lillian used to baby sit for mum and dad. Ernie worked at Springs Branch and later as a bus driver for Wigan Corporation. I remember him taking me to Springs Branch for a ride on the footplate of one of the steam locos on shed there in the fifties. Wouldn't get away with that now. Uncle Ernie always made me laugh, pulling funny faces and I was very upset when he passed away some years ago.
