In the 1960's local pub live entertainment was coming to an end with the advent of the juke box etc.,. This is a photo of Melvin, I apologise if I've got the name not quite right, who was a very lively and talented singer and musician. He was only 16 but looked much younger and came from the Norley Hall Estate. He's photographed here at the Wellfield Hotel, Beech Hill in the 1960's.

Hi Keith, Mel Barnes sang at the Owl Inn Upholland during the sixties,is he one and the same Melvin.Tom.

Thank you so much Tom Clancy, it's great to have the old memory jogged back into gear again. I now of course, thanks to you, can recall Mel's name and the times I used to pick him up to take him along to do his gig at the pub and then drop him off again, he was far too young to drive, and with all his gear it was the only way.
