Margaret (nee Houghton)born c1867 and James Richardson born c1869, my great grandparents. I think they lived in/around Loch Street Pemberton. They had three children, all girls to my knowledge - Mary, Lizzie Alice and my grandma May. Poor and hard times, I would imagine.

Hi Nadine, I have houghtons in my family tree, I did a quick search to see if there are links with your gt grandparents (there aren't, but I did find the following information about your family). According to the 1911 census they had 8 children, 4 of which are recorded on the census. (4 died earlier) I found baptism records for William (1892), Jane (1897),plus there is Samuel (1895) on the 1911 census. There address for 1901 and 1911 is given as 'behind 25 Loch street'. I found a death for a Samuel Richardson in 1912, age 17, from Pemberton.

Carol, thankyou for taking the time to look up this info, I haven`t done a family tree for this side of the family, intrigued as to the info you provided though, I suppose it was quite the norm in those days.

Have your great grandparents on my Pemberton branch of my family (Up Holland Richardsons). James was born 16-07-1869 to William Richardson (10-04-1843) and Ann Taberner. William being the son of Laurance Richardson (22-08-1814 and Margaret Crosby. Laurence was the son of William Richardson and Mary Fairhurst.I have traced the line back to Hugh Richardson c1690.I recently visited Pemberton and Lock Street still exists.Saint John's Church is nearby and many Richardsons are buried there.
