Have you any more information about this James Hurst. He hsa a strong resemblance to my grandfather Thomas Hurst and I wondered if it was his elder brother James. They were the son's of William and Matilda Hurst(nee Hatton)

Hi Gwyneth, thanks for your interest, i just happened to be strolling by and noticed this comment.
Unfortunately my James doesn't seem connected to your Thomas or William.
James' parents were Thomas and Ellen nee Bryan. Thomas in turn was a son of William who married Elizabeth Pickering way back in 1841. I've done quite an extensive search on this family but haven't come across any Hattons. Sorry, but hope this has been of some help.
As an aside, my dad is the eldest of 5 Hurst boys and they all have a very strong resemblence to the 'Hurst gene' as we call it ;)

I am descended from a John Thomas Hurst. His wife was Margaret. They had 10 children two girls died, one at birth and one about the age of 1 or 2. They had 3 boys, Bob, George and Victor and 5 girls. Evelyn, Florence, Aida, Mabel and Jenny. They lived at 57 School lane in Garswood near Wigan. Just wondering if we could be related. I do not know any information about my Grandfathers brothers and sisters. I do know he died in 1950. And my Grandmother passed in 1928 of breast cancer. My mother was 8 years old at the time. Thanks for any info you van pass on.
