My Dad Colin Pearce (left in the picture with a work mate at ( Jem Willies) or that is what my Dad used to call it..! Within the Wigan area possibly Tower hill Upholland he ended up on the surface due to two under ground accidents. I still have his pick/axe . In later life the working down the pits caught up with him and sadly he lost his life in October 2008 due to lung damage like a lot of other lads up and down the country.He was also at Robin Hill in Wigan for a time.

My dad worked at tower hill pit probably early sixties his name was Harry he was on haulage used to bring the trucks up . It was a drift mine
