Hi Sue - what number did you live at? my lot were at #7
I lived at number 26 queen street...
My step father came from a big family of Parkinsons in Queen St Highfield.
Can't recall his Ma & Pa's names, but there was George, Polly, Dora, Bill, Harry, Tom & Alf (may have been more?).
I remember 60'ish years ago, going there on a Sunday afternoon, after dinner, the owd Grandad got his fiddle out & gave us a tune, then later when the pubs emptied (used to be 2PM on Sundays, they all went to the "garden" a piece of waste land behind the houses on the Enfield St side of Queen St, to play "Pitch & Toss". Illegal then, so thay paid kids to bobby watch at the end of the street..;o)
My grandad was Eli Parkinson and there was Horace and Jimmy and Cila as I know and remember... I will have to ask about any others
