This was the tunnel that you had to go through to get to the Westwood cottages if you were approaching from Lower Ince.
It used to terrify me as a small child, it was dank and dark and seemed like an eternity walking through it.

i well remember sitting on the sandhills there watching all manner of trains go by back in the 50s.

The westwood tunnel, in the late 1940 we used to go there to do some train spotting. There was such a variety of steam engines in those days, it was a thrill when the flying scotsman or the royal scot and the malard came by.
