This Windmill was design by my Great Great Uncle, William Peace 1811 - 1861.He was the Chief Design and Mining Engineer for Lord Crawford. It was designed to pump water for the Haigh Brewery. He lived at Brook Cottage Haigh. Does anyone have any information about Brook Cottage? Thank you

Your great great uncle had dealings with John Sumner the proprietor of Haigh Brewery re the windmill. Do you or does anyone else know more about John Sumner apart from what's already on Wigan World? For example did he buy the brewery start it himself or what? Any info welcome

I think "Brook Cottage" was probably "Brock Mill Cottage". William Peaces widow died at "Wingate. Cottage" at Brock Mill. I hope this helps.
