Wonderful old Victorian street scene of High Street in Golborne. Note the cobbles, horse and cart and gas lamps.

Great photos these of old Golborne. We used to live at 64 Legh St. just a few doors from the Legh Arms. My mother, Bertha Blackburn was born at 47 Bank St. across from what was Naylor's Foundry. We moved to Wigan on Feb. 12th 1947, when my dad took over the Ben Turner's Butcher's shop in Worsley Mesnes.

The girl on the right looks *very* much like my great great grandmother, Martha Wilkinson (b. 1858) who lived at number 48 High Street, Golborne. Does Darren Bishop happen to know the date of this photo?) ..
