Photo shows single deck bus waiting outside Lewis cafe on Wallgate directly opposite the General Post Office. Again this was when Wallgate was two way traffic between King St and Library St. The bus is a private charter picking up what looks like a wedding party from the cafe. Wonder if anyone can remember or knows who's the wedding was

Wigan Corporation single deckers were in the minority. This bus, AEK513 was one of nine Northern Counties bodied Leyland Royal Tigers new in 1952/3/5, JP9061-9064, AEK513-516, BJP364 that were in service until 1972/73. In 1957 there were a pair of Northern Counties bodied Leyland Tiger Cubs, DEK534-535, and another bodied by Massey in 1962, JJP501. In 1967 two Massey bodied Leyland Panther Cubs, DJP468E and EEK1F, and the biggest order for single deckers were the 12 1970 Northern Counties bodied Leyland Panthers HJP950-961H.
