If you look in the distance you can see Baxters stores Arnold ran it he was a grand bloke. Further up near Dingle belles was Fryers newsagent's and Parkinsons. They used to have toffee in proper glass jars. Those were the days.

If you look over the railings to the right, you will see the grave of 'George Lyon' who was hung at Lancaster Prison. He was one of the last persons to be hung for stealing.
my sister ann had her wedding reception upstairs at baxters store .. in 1968 ..she worked in the shop ... mr and mrs baxter were lovely people sadly Arnold passed
