The white building in the distance was Mary's shop. It was great she used to split a packet of ciggs those were the days. My Mum was born in that house in the 1920's.

That 'white shop' (next door to the 'Olde Dog' was owned by Glovers in the late 1950s - I think they had a son called Albert.

my grandad lived in the house right next door to the school you can see it on the picture his name was bill winstanley nicked named shotum i used to go every day for my dinner as it was quite handy used to go and get somthing for dinner from the shop at the bottom of the hills steps "bensons shop"

I lived in the White House at bottom of Alma Hill when my mum owned the shop

i went to the infant school as did my siblings i also went t that shop for sweets
