The large building in the background is probably St Joseph's College. The South front of it has three castellated turrets along it - which don't appear to feature here, and the land quickly falls away East of the College - so I'd say it was West or North of it. I'd guess North - towards Ruby Mill.

I agree with Rev David that it is probably St. Josephs College but I think the photo was taken from the east, down Lafford Lane area. There are two corner towers on the east side of the college but they are not very obvious because the pitched roof is higher than the south side. Also there is a prominent central finial on the roof of the east side very visible on the photograph.
