What a great photo that is. I seem to know that wall, wonder if it was/is the wall on the left going up to where the Lyric cinema building is/ was ? My sister & I used to walk down from the cinema , up some steep steps & across a field to Hall Green.

Could this be looking down Alma Hill ? The retaining wall removed and now a high grass bank up to the houses.

To add to my comment, the 1909 map shows the cleft in the wall as steps and a black spot where the gas lamp is.

The picture was taken on Parliament Street/Grove Road near where the Cunnery Steps come down from Dingle Road, the high wall was removed some years ago.

You could build a nice house with all that stone. No doubt someone did and probably got paid for removing it...
