APPEARS THEY HAD TO GET THE FIRE BRIGADE OUT IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE GAS MANTLE..

Ron, these last three photos are fantastic....Market Place, The Bus Station and Pemberton Police Station. Thankyou so much for posting them, and for ALL the recent fascinating photos.

Good photo Ron, it fits the 1889 map perfectly. We have the Eagle and Child Royal Hotel before the ornate gables were added. We have the two giant gas lamps and the Pemberton tramway which terminated here. One tramline curved left to be later continued down Market Street. By 1902 the lamps had been removed and the tramlines laid down Standishgate and Market Street.
