Now in the process of being renovated after being used as the Freemasons lodge for many years, up to a few years ago.

Good to know that it is being renovated instead of the usual demolition of buildings.

I never knew that it used to be a Freemasons lodge..

It was actually the home of many individual Lodges, which met at different times during the week. The building is deceptively spacious, and could accommodate several meetings, functions etc at once. It was the home to 'Antiquity'lodge, one of the oldest in the country.

Purpose built as a Masonic Lodge circa 1900 and designed by renowned Civic Architects Bradshaw, Gass & Hope from Bolton. Peck Tarpaulin Works were to the rear and I think Mr. Peck was instrumental in getting it built.
