Went through Lower Ince, Platt Bridge, Bickershaw, Tamar, West Leigh before terminating in Leigh town centre.
This 54 service through Bickershaw used to take about 25 mins from Wigan to Leigh when I used it regularly in the late 50s. I always remember the fare was 1s/4d. or seven and a half new pence. I drove to Leigh mid afternoon a couple of weeks ago using the same route and it took me 55 mins. No road works or accidents' just traffic congestion.
That everywhere not just going to Leigh, DerekB
