I wonder why our house No.23 isn't on the map.
The platform truncated by the upper edge of the illustration, I guess is the previous incarnation of the L&Y station. I think then, it had not yet acquired the name Wallgate Station.
Mo as you can see every house wasn't numbered you just have to work out what number it was from the numbered ones.
I know which one it was Ron,I'm just puzzled why it isn't numbered...but it's nice just seeing our house ..my Grandparents is numbered though 5 A.
Please ignore my previous post. Mea culpa. That is not the Wallgate (L&Y) line is it. The truncated platform must be the Horse Landing.
It looks like spare land is where number 41 should be.
Veronica, it was spare land, you could go down Wilgoose Lane and nip across that spare bit ,turn left and back up my Street
It looks like 5 houses were demolished then- it must be before your time Maureen. Perhaps they were the oldest in the street when they were demolished - who knows! It's very curious.
Just thinking the houses on that spare land must have been demolishe in between 1937 and 1939 as the family were still there when the mother died on 31st December 1936. My mother was born in 1923 and lived there up to moving to Pemberton.
Veronica.Ive put a comment on the GGS photo re- that spare land.
can someone tell me where you find these maps with the house numbers on please?
