Fantastic, Ron! I have really enjoyed the "Ritz Cinema" thread on "Communicate". Thanks for this reminder. xx.

Thanks for that Ron,I have many memories of the Ritz cinema, both as a child and as a teenager,it really was a very sumptuous interior I always thought,I still remember on the left hand side as you went through the doors was a framed photograph of Ruth Roman..and I can remember when attending the ABC Minors,I always sat on the left hand side five rows back..they were happy days and only add to the many memories that I cherish of my childhood.

I'm sure somewhere in my house at the back of a drawer is one of these badges. I seem to recall that the pale green background colour glowed in the dark after shining a light on it. Happy days but despite going loads of times the only serial I can remember is King of the Rocket Men which seemed to be on every week. Can anyone remember any other features ?

A few of the older kids wore similar badges with the word Monitor on them. Perhaps they got in free for helping staff to keep order.

I usually went to the Scholes Pictures but occasionally to the Ritz ABC. I do remember one time children in the audience were invited onto the stage to sing. I also remember a lad called John Gannon ( I think)winning a singing competition there.

Carolaen, I loved to watch 'Scouts to the Rescue' I think 'Rin Tin Tin' and Lassie were also shown. 'Abbot and Costello' could also have been shown along with 'Laurel and Hardy' the Ritz on a Saturday morning was the place to be.

Thanks to those above for all the comments on the other serials etc. I went along to the Ritz in the early 1960s and despite the other films mentioned here I can still only remember seeing King of the Rocket Men though there must have been others. Even more intriguingly I looked up KOTR on Google and discovered there were only 12 episodes ever made !!
