This sale catalogue was given to me by Dennis Armstrong of Aspull.

Tom, would Lord Crawford still have been around in the late 1950s? I have a very hazy memory of being involved in a May Queen event when I was still in the infants' department of Ince Central School, and there was a speaker, (maybe opening the proceedings), and I seem to remember my Mam saying it was Lord Crawford. It is a very hazy memory and a very long time ago so I could be wrong.

Irene , the Crawfords had left Wigan by then ,but Lord Crawford often returned for civic duties so you are probably right . I know he came to open the Conservite Club in 1967.
