Built in a similar situation as the Carnegie Library, at Pemberton, on a Y Junction.

Spent a lot of time in my childhood in there. Thank you Andrew, much appreciated.

In additional to library, building housed a gorgeous lecture theatre, which in my time, I never saw it put to use.

What a wasted resource!

The schoolchildren appear to be wearing the same outfits as in photo 8864 of the park fountain, Wigan Rd. That one is dated about 1900 so I imagine this will be the same era.
