The author appears to have omitted the most obvious reason for admission, which should have been ' concocting daft lists '. Reading through them, it's a wonder half the country wasn't in Winwick. I can see at least half a dozen reasons among them why they would have been justified in strapping the strait jacket on me. And in the case of DTease, probably a dozen.
I would be very interesting to know exactly what was meant by some of the above; "masturbation for 30 years"? does that mean non stop?
This is unbelievable! I would have been a suitable candidate just for reading novels! Very interesting, Ozy.....thanks for posting.
I'm not responsible for posting this one Irene, the credit for this little gem must go to Karen. It seems as though Queen Victoria herself could quite well have compiled this list, with a little help from Albert of course. Well we for one are not amused. ' Salvation Army ' ? .. ' Fighting Fire ', ??. What would Garry have been meant to do if his roaring coal fire caught the chimney alight ?, forget dialling 999, but instead, ring Winwick hospital and ask to speak to the matron on a matter of the utmost urgency ?
And, ONE HUNDRED YEARS on from this, ie 1960's, women were still being involuntarily incarcerated in mental institutions for reason of getting pregnant when unwed.
I know a couple of women who had exactly such an experience in the 1960's. What a change 1967 blew in!
Imaginary Female Trouble - would that affect men or women?
Bad whiskey and a gathering in the head....do they go together?
Politics would that mean the whole Houses of Parliament contingent?
Egotism .... Mr Trump springs to mind!
55, thing's out of list would have put me in Winwick for ever.

This is from Viz. It's a joke.
Just been soldering, but previously had cut my finger Ive ended up wth bloody Flux. Will I be locked up in Winwick ? This is the best laugh Ive had in ages.... Well done A.W. I roared at your comment
I'll go with that, Jarvo. Viz funny comic magazine, founded in 1979.
Ozy, when I first looked at this I thought it was a small selection of my many virtues.
You've all be had apart from Jarvo and me..Ha ha.
I'v seen an application form for the St Helens Rugby Club that was very similar.
