Not much has changed on that side of the road. On the other side, the school has been demolished and rebuilt, and Highfield House long gone. I still remember playing tennis in the summer of 1969 on the vicarage lawn. The lawn had a full size tennis court complete with net. The vicar at the time, Rev Smith, welcomed the local teenagers to use the court, and we were free to come and go as we pleased. There was never any trouble or mess; we played tennis, cleaned up, and went home. Would never happen these days. Happy summer days in the summer of '69...I feel a song coming on...:)
