The entrance to the FLEECE was higher up, to the right, towards the Marketplace. Just to the left of the building you can see was the entrance to the Commercial Yard

One of those shops on the left was a music shop in the 1960's, Melody House.

Too many times spent in the Friar Tuck restaurant (usually known by another name !!) in the 1960's eating sausage and chips. I presume it's gone as I left Wigan in 1970. From memory it was on the left hand side of this picture just about where the Fireplace shop is. Anyone else remember it.

Bert Smith shoe repairers on corner left side,always did a reasonable repair.How many people bother to get shoes repaired these days?

I remember having my first beef burger in the Fryer Tuck
i put mustard on it yuk!!! never tried mustard since.
