nice to see this Fred, it had gone before I got chance to photo it.
That new building seemed to start quickly, then ground to a halt. What is it going to be, and why is there lack of activity?
Yes, the old parochial hall ,used at least in the 50,s as a classroom for st. john,s primary teacher Mr. King. Also used by the dramatic society on occasions.
I heard that the Lock & key shop from Orrell Post was supposed to be moving to the new building here.
Definitely Orrell Lock & Key. Checked on Wigan Planning Website
A much older photo is here, for comparison:

I used to go to the Parochial Hall for Sunday School, later years as a St. John's choirboy for tea and biscuits between services on Sunday morning, and then later years a youth club.
I used to go there to the youth club in the late fifties. I had my wedding reception there in 1964.
I used to go to the cubs and scouts (11th Wigan) there in the 60's and 70's before they built the Scout hut (now gone) behind the Methodist church. It was also used as a pram club in the 80's.
They used to have Disco`s and live bands here in the late Sixties. I also remember going on a sponsored midnight walk to Southport, on a Friday night?
I went to school there
And quite a few pantomimes
i went to the parochial hall with Teacher Mr King , he was great teacher and taught us knitting and sewing . loved my time there
