boring, sorry.
Garry, for once in your life, why don’t you keep your mouth shut?
This site is littered with your crass and puerile comments. They aren’t clever, they aren’t witty, and only serve to highlight your lack of good manners.
These photos, although relatively recent, will be of genuine interest to local historians both now, and in years to come.
I value your comments Garry - because if you pan something it invariably turns out to be something good, not only for local interest but for the social history value. I'm afraid it's you that has a trivial mind Garry.
Wish there was an ABC book of. Before and After as regards buildings . What was once there. I feel like my memories are being swept away and I am trying desperately trying to cling onto them Sad I know, forgive me!
I have many good memories of the rest home, particularly of John Carlean, his wife, think Milly, (and son John, who I believe died)they were managers.C.1985? Last I heard she lived Off Bell Lane Orrell.
There was another lady who was a manager named Rose, she moved to the Lake district and I lost contact with her.
She lived in the cul- de- sac at the back of the Orrell council yard/library.
As with Helen's comment on the other photo of Far Moor, what is boring to one person is a precious memory to another.
I look forward to seeing some of Garry's pictures soon
Why is that Stan?.
In the early 70s a group of the older pupils from Up Holland secondary used to visit the old folk at Far Moor; it was a happy place then and the old folk were great.
My mum Anne Haydock, worked at Farmoor from the 1970s until about 1990, when she left to look after my nan. Mum loved her job. I remember visiting some of the residents on my way home from Grammar school. Mr Bennett was the manager in those days, but I remember mum talking about Mrs Carleon.
