What is the area to the left of the photo please?
It's the M6 motorway
remember the place very well, spent a lot of time in that area as a youngster it does look mid 70s thanks for sharing alan.
Think that was the old original "low bank road"...in front of you
hello I used to live down skitters grove,my dad worked on a farm nearby think it was worthingtons.watched the m6 being constructed moved back up to Scotland not long after iain
I remember riding my bike from the old Ashton Grammar school to Downall Green in the 50s, it was the old Low Bank Rd and with only 3 gears on the bike, I never did manage to ride it up the hill, had to get off and walk :-)
The area here looks tidy compared to today. I walk past this area alot and it's just full of litter. The entrance to the old road is a dumping ground for fly tipping. There's a mattress that's been dumped there just recently. People who are too lazy to take it to a tip.
any idea who the property developers were who bought and built Girton Ave, Balliol way etc on where Skitters used to be?
