Isn't this the headquarters of WISH F.M. now?
No Ron, it's the house 'Trinity Trees' next door.
This old house was extensively restored about 10 years ago after falling into dereliction.
I always loved driving past this house. I always thought it was lovely.
I had a childhood friend whose Granny lived in the lodge of a large house a little further down the road towards Pemberton from the lovely house pictured. The lodge is still there or was last time I was in the area but there are houses built in the grounds of the big house now. Wonder who had these mansions built ?
What's the name of the house. Does anyone know it's history. Beautiful building.
Henry7 - the house is called 'Trinity Trees'. It may have also been called Holly House many years ago.
It was built circa 1830-1835, and was used at one stage as the Rectory.
i was once told Abraham Guest lived there.
Not too sure about that David, but I do know he lived in the fairly modern house further along the road, between The Priory Wood (Mount) and The Nunnery, in his later years.
Some info about Abraham Guest's home at:

Hi Really thrilled to see this picture of trinity trees House, the person who posted the picture if you read this would it be possible to have a copy of the postcard, the house now belongs to my daughter. Many thanks
I think the house once belonged to Cloughs of Clough and Gaskell builders
My mum worked there when the Clough family owned it and my sister and I spent a lot of time there playing in the huge garden. The family were always kind to us.
Was this not the house of Robert Daglish;the famous engineer/manager of John Clark who introduced steam locomotives to Clark's collieries for transporting coal from Orrell to Crooke thereby saving Clark a huge amount of money by eliminating the need for horses with the huge expense of their feed and caring?
Further to my last comment. My mistake. I now understand Robert Daglish's house was the one which now houses Wish FM.
I spent my childhood there from 1978-1989, as did my mum, dad and two sisters...it was beautiful inside and out and I still dream of it today.
