This pic makes a very pleasant change from recent offerings.
I do hope the road wasn't resting on Gullick Dobson roadway supports though.

I quite agree, it's one thing to post 3 or 4 images on a particular topic, quite another to be smothered by them - a real turn off. This image is like a breath of fresh air by comparison.

I agree. A very good photo that provides something to look at.

Alan, Another cracking photo. One view I haven't seen before.

The Station Hotel has just been made into Houses and flats. Another pubs bit the dust.

Old photos of Orrell are not that common and this is a particularly good example, thanks for this Allan.

Brilliant photo Allan.
If I'd seen another Gullick Dobson picture, I'd have been putting a claim in for industrial injury.

Agreed, agreed and agreed!!

Agreed this is a good Photo but why shouldn't Gullick's photos be uploaded? You don't have to view them, if you only want to see certain catagories don't view "Last uploaded", simple! You should be pleased that someone has taken the time and trouble to upload them into the Work place-Gullick Dobson folder. Even if not of interest to all today, in a few years time people may be very interested to see views of one of Wigan's past major employers.

I agree with Mr T. I didn't bother looking at the GD photos, but if I or any members of my family had had any involvement with the company, I would have been delighted to see them. This is an archive of all aspects of Wigan life. I recently posted a series of 16 pics from scanning in a booklet produced in 1954 celebrating the centenary of Notre Dame. I imagine a lot of folks didn't bother looking at them, but to the thousands of girls who went to the school, they would have appreciated them. I learned a lot about my ex-school when i first read it a couple of weeks ago.

It is excellent that everyone has, and expresses their opinion, whether it is possitive, negative,or neutral. It gives spice to the subject that is, or has been depicted.

I,m sure the lad third from left was a service engineer at Gullicks :-)

Carol, I went to the Convent. Where can I see those photos you have posted.

Comment by: Carol on 9th May 2013 at 10:54

Ann, they are still on these pages (as in last 400 posted), but if you click on the schools album, then Notre Dame, that is where they are filed. I have also started a facebook group for Notre Dame if you are interested, although it is early days with respect to the number of members and content.

wow, I have just visited Wigan with my Aunts, 1 who has not been for 50 years nearly, we specifically came to this corner as when she married they moved into one of the houses behind the group in late 50's, they were for railway staff. She was sorry to see the station building had gone just round the corner from here.
