Found in some old family photos. I have no idea who they are but written on the back of the photo is "This was taken right at the top of Windy Arbour. Remember the little cottages there?" Not an area that I am familiar with. Hope someone recognises it.

They are still there, modernised and extended somewhat, looking very picturesque. They are at the top of Wigan Rd where it meets Ashton Rd, across from the old stocks.

Derek Calderbank lived there at one time and so did Pat Waterworth. They both attended Highfield School.

We walked past those cottages for many years on our 'after Sunday tea' walks.....Happy to hear they are still there, I haven't been that way in 50 years....

I think Miss Barton who taught at Highfield Junior School in the 1950's lived in one of the cottages?

Your right my dad used to live in one of the cottages, I remember when I was a child going there my granddad Albert worked on the buses and used to grow his own veg and keep hens, My grandmother Edith used to bake a lot and used to have a great selection of cakes
