We only moved to Platt Bridge in 1971 but I knew Peter Heyes and his wife.I worked at The Platt Bridge Inn 1977-1981 and they used to go in and chat to my Mam and Dad. Peter's mother went in too.I remember some shops across the road from that time.....Droney's, (who can ever forget Droney's?!), Brown's Wallpaper Shop amd Josie's Toffee-Shop, which I think was also an off-licence.
the other boy is leslie smith
Good photo John. I remember Graham and Pey but not the other lad. You are right directly behind them is the stables belonging the Inn.. they were enough for six horses and later Dad and I converted them into a garage with an entrance from the back.
The other end of the wall was an accommodation block for coachmen, probably used in the l800's. The only horse and cart in my time there was Bill Tracy the rag and bone man who tethered it in the yard whilst he got blotto and then drove it home to Hindleyn
i just found out about tis website as i moved to ireland in 2006. my dad is peter heyes !
